When patient check-in surges during morning hours, the database must process concurrent requests without locking up the front desk terminal or slowing down the triage nurse.

For the frontend interface used by nurses and physicians, we implemented React because it renders dynamic schedule updates without requiring full page reloads. A doctor reviewing patient vitals on a mobile tablet needs immediate updates when lab results drop into the system from an external testing facility. We integrated Firebase to push real-time notifications to practitioner devices the exact second a new lab report is flagged by the diagnostic team.

Handling patient billing securely requires robust payment infrastructure that complies with industry regulations without adding friction to the checkout counter. We integrated Stripe to process patient co-pays and deductible balances directly through the patient portal, cutting manual invoice reconciliation from three days down to four hours. Every transaction record links back to the specific appointment ID, preventing the auditing discrepancies that frequently plague multi-provider clinics.

To ensure doctors and administrators can manage patient queues while moving between exam rooms, we built a companion mobile app using Flutter. This gives clinical staff native performance on both iOS and Android hardware from a single codebase, reducing ongoing maintenance overhead. We chose this stack after auditing the clinic's existing server infrastructure and finding that a lightweight REST API wrapper would connect their legacy billing software to the new mobile interface without requiring a total hardware replacement.
