Managing patient data securely requires a database architecture that handles complex relational records without slowing down clinical staff during peak hours. We built the core backend using Laravel to manage complex scheduling logic, doctor rosters, and patient history permissions. This choice ensures that database transactions remain consistent and secure, even when multiple receptionists update schedules simultaneously.

For the frontend interface, we chose React to deliver a snappy, single-page application experience that loads patient charts in under a second. Medical staff cannot afford to wait for sluggish page reloads when reviewing critical allergy alerts or recent lab results during a consultation. We implemented state management patterns that keep the UI responsive, reducing friction for nurses and administrative leads who switch between multiple patient files throughout the shift.

Integrating payment processing and patient billing required a secure connection to Stripe to handle copays, deductible payments, and recurring insurance claims. Financial reconciliation errors dropped significantly once automated receipts and ledger updates replaced manual end-of-day batching. We also ensured that all payment data flows through tokenized REST API endpoints, keeping sensitive financial details isolated from clinical records.

For mobile access during hospital rounds, we developed companion Flutter applications that allow physicians to view patient vitals and update notes directly from their tablets. Firebase powers real-time notifications for urgent lab results, pushing alerts instantly to the attending physician's device. This multi-platform approach ensures that whether staff are at a desktop workstation or moving between rooms, patient data remains synchronized across every device.
